Attention News/Assignment Editors:

World Trade Center memorial designers gather to discuss competition process and outcomes.

Collaboration event on December 6 is a first for New York.

NEW YORK, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ - Following last week's release of 8 finalists in the World Trade center site memorial competition, a group of official participants has organized the first in a series of collaboration and discussion meetings.

Competitor Forum I is set for Saturday December 6 at Kimmel Center, New York University. All official participants in the World Trade Center memorial competition are invited to attend. The full-day event features group discussion sessions, peer review of participants' designs, and consideration of the ongoing process and outcomes of the memorial competition judging.

William Stratas, the Toronto-based founder and lead organizer of the event, comments, "Competitor Forum is a constructively focused event with positive agenda that aims to unite like-minded people in pursuit of their passion for this epic project." Participants from across the USA, and several from Canada and Europe, have registered to attend.

The program of full-day activities is open to all memorial competition participants, architecture professionals and non-professionals alike. Suggested participation donation is $40 per person at the door. Full details are posted online at www.CompetitorForum.org

Recent neutral and negative reaction following release of the memorial finalist designs has opened an opportunity for competition participants to enter the debate in a structured manner. Explains Mr. Stratas, "As a group, we competition designers have deep knowledge of the process and evolution of this competition, plus a passion for the best possible result. At this event we aim to contribute constructively to the outcomes that currently are in debate."

Media attendance at Competitor Forum on December 6 is on an invitation-only basis. To submit a request for invitation, please see: http://www.CompetitorForum.org/newsmedia.shtml
